"She Baked the Loaves and Dried the Fishes" John 6: 9-14 tells of a lad who selflessly contributed his five barley loaves and two fishes to be used by the Savior, who miraculously fed the five thousand gathered to hear the Gospel message. This painting depicts the lad's older sister who, in my imagination, climbed into the foothills near Galilee to find her brother amongst the crowd and deliver the food she had lovingly prepared for him. 24" x 24" Upcycled paper mixed media on wood panel *Original is Sold- Please contact the artist if you'd like to commission your own piece at rmbirrellstudio@gmail.com
"Sariah's Joy" As a mother of sons, I've always loved the Book of Mormon account of this faithful woman who thought for a time that her sons had perished in the wilderness and went through so many emotions in her pain. Any woman who loves deeply can imagine this scene of joy and thanksgiving to God when Sariah sees her sons arriving home in the distance. 12" x 16" Upcycled paper mixed media on wood panel *Original Available- Contact the Artist at rmbirrellstudio@gmail.com
"Heed Not" Heed not the naysayers and mocking voices in the world that would tear you down. You can do it! Keep moving forward, and stay true to what you believe. From the hymn "Let Us All Press On", text and music: Evan Stephens, 1854-1930, 1 Nephi 22:15-17, Doctrine and Covenants 6:33-37 6"x 6" Upcycled paper mixed media on wood panel *Original is Sold- Please contact the artist if you're interested in commissioning your own piece at: rmbirrellstudio@gmail.com
"Conservatory Witch" The Conservatory Witch only uses her powers for good. Conjuring a beautiful garden is her thing. 8"x 10" Upcycled paper mixed media on wood panel *Original is available- Contact the artist at rmbirrellstudio@gmail.com
"Cold Fish" Original fairy tales were my favorite books as a kid. Many were far from "Disney" versions for the most part, as are these two sisters, just watching dispassionately as a distant ship struggles in a storm. 12" x 12" Upcycled paper mixed media on wood panel *Original is Available- Contact the artist at rmbirrellstudio@gmail.com
"The Resistance is as Big as the Dream" I heard a podcast snippet featuring Steven Pressfield discussing battling resistance: that "self-sabotaging force that lives between you and your biggest goals". I call that nasty little voice in my ear the adversary and recognize that he tries hard to get me to give up on any dream that will help me to be my best self. The bigger the dream, the bigger the resistance, they're always proportional to each other. Don't give up on your dreams, even if they seem unreachable at times, that's just the resistance. Listen to your true self. She/He's in there! 12" x 12" Upcycled paper mixed media on wood board *Original is Sold- Please contact the artist if you'd like to commission your own piece at: rmbirrellstudio@gmail.com

"It's a Vibe" Gardening work is an activity many of us enjoy, but it's equally important to stop to smell the flowers we grow, to relax, and drink in the beauty of nature. It's a vibe! 12" x 16" Upcycled paper mixed media on wood panel *Original is Available- Contact the Artist at rmbirrellstudio@gmail.com
"Good Scents" What started as a still life with these beautiful, cut glass, perfume bottles, evolved from there to this reflection. The mirror belonged to my husband's Nana and fit in perfectly with the decidedly girly feeling. I love taking snippets of a woman's life, enlarging them, and taking the time to develop a mood, emotion, and texture to express that moment. Hmmmm...I can smell the perfume... "11 x 14" Upcycled paper mixed media on wood panel * Original is Sold- Please contact the artist at rmbirrellstudio@gmail.com if you'd like to commission your own piece.

"All Growth Begins at the End of Your Comfort Zone" Walking away from her nice, orderly, row garden to explore the beautiful wildness that is the unknown, this woman embodies the thought, "All growth starts at the end of your comfort zone." (attributed to Tony Robbins, a business/life coach- I don't know much about him, but I love the thought!) I’ve been experimenting with ways of stretching myself and doing uncomfortable things this year. I went back to school for a BS degree and accepted a completely unknown (to me) responsibility at church leading the hymns! I’m pleasantly surprised that I can be successful with things that were scary before! Are you trying anything outside your comfort zone? 12" x 16" Upcycled paper mixed media on wood panel *Original is Sold but please contact the artist at rmbirrellstudio@gmail.com to commission your own piece.
"Sleepless Sisters" I loved the story of the "Princess and the Pea" by Hans Christian Andersen as a child, but felt vaguely disturbed that only one of the girls out of all the Queen met was deemed worthy of greatness in her eyes. This piece portrays three different girls, ALL sleepless due to the pea lodged in the mattresses. If I could have fit more on the board, I would have, there isn't a finite number of women of great worth. 20" x 20" Upcycled paper mixed media on wood panel *Original is Available- Contact the Artist at rmbirrellstudio@gmail.com
"Prince of Peace" The Prince of Peace is one of many names given to the Christ child. As the Christmas season approaches and we think of our Savior Jesus Christ's birth in a lowly stable, we focus on the true meaning of the Holiday. 5" x 7" Upcycled paper mixed media on wood panel *Original is Sold but please contact the artist at rmbirrellstudio@gmail.com if you're interested in commissioning your own piece.
"Lift" Now, more than ever, we need to be there for each other and be willing to "lift up the hands that hang down" without judgment or selfishness. (Doctrine and Covenants, Section 81:5) Here a group of women surrounds one who is in need. Without judgment or ridicule, they lovingly offer her knowledge, refreshment, sustenance, service and support, light and warmth. 24" x 24" Upcycled paper mixed media on wood panel *Original is Available- Contact the artist at rmbirrellstudio.com
"All Ye Heavy Laden" I don't know anyone who hasn't had a time when they have felt completely overwhelmed and a little beat up by life. When that happens, I feel comforted by these verses, I know I will receive rest when I turn to Him. "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30. 24" x 36" Upcycled paper mixed media on wood panel *Original is Available- Contact the artist at rmbirrellstudio@gmail.com
"Deep Love" This piece was created as a gift for a dear friend who was about to give birth to her first child. Although it has been a challenging time for this couple to get to this point, they have bravely seen each struggle as a learning experience and are deeply thankful for this time in their lives. I tried to capture one of those quiet, early morning moments when you hold your new infant close, breathe in his new baby smell, and thank God for this sweet blessing. 5" x 7" Upcycled paper mixed media on wood panel *Original is not available Please contact the artist at rmbirrellstudio@gmail.com if you're interested in commissioning your own piece.

"Robin Bird" While tradition would have a beautiful, dainty Canary singing in this cage, my favorite bird is the Robin, especially the young, fluffy, awkward ones. Their song makes me feel like I'm home wherever I live. Of course the cage stays open, it's hard to sing without freedom! *Original is Sold. Please contact the artist if you'd like to commission a similar piece. rmbirrellstudio@gmail.com
"Familiar Gestures" I notice how all people use pretty much the same familiar unconscious gestures to express emotion. Including this one that actress Kristin Stewart made famous, the "hair tuck" behind the ear. 8" x 10" Upcycled magazine paper on illustration board. *This Original is Sold- Contact the artist at rmbirrellstudio@gmail.com if you're interested in commissioning your own piece.
